Hello! I'm Lauren Sophie, a Surface Pattern Designer based in Sussex in the UK
I am inspired by the world around me, especially nature and the coast. Living on the outskirts of the Ashdown Forest, I am lucky to have a beautiful source of inspiration on my doorstep
My designs feature a mixture of fun, energetic, playful, abstract, bold, textured and slightly retro styles
I love to experiment with new mediums and techniques which I can incorporate into my designs. Most of my designs start as a pencil and ink sketch, from which I develop further into a range of motifs. These are then scanned into Illustrator and I transform them into patterns. I also enjoy using Procreate and Photoshop, and use watercolours to make marks, which I then add colour to on the computer
After completing my Fashion & Textiles degree at the University of Kent, I took a step back from design to compete around the world in Irish dance. During this time, I worked in Administration, although I never lost my flare for drawing and doodling.
On retiring from dance, I discovered the Florals & Nature Masterclass being offered by Make It In Design and it was through this class I rediscovered my love of design and decided to follow my new dream of becoming a designer and to support my fiancé and our young daughter
